Born in 1965 in Angola IN, John graduated Angola High School in 1983. He attended Tri-State University, in Angola for 3 years then went on to the Mid-America School of Mortuary Science. John graduated from this prestigious school in 1987. He's been a funeral director with Weicht Funeral Home ever since. The past 22 years serving the families of this community have brought him a deep understanding of what families are looking for as a funeral service provider. The experience he has garnered makes him a remarkably valuable member of our firm. He is a past member of Angola Rotary. Currently, he serves on the Board of Directors for the First Federal Savings Bank of Angola. John has lived in Angola all of his life and has been active in the community for many years. He is happily married to Gretchen Weicht and has 3 children.

Beth Weicht Lee

Beth Weicht Lee

Co-Owner

Beth has lived in Angola for 41 years where she was born and raised. She graduated from Angola High School and International Business College, Fort Wayne, Indiana. She started working in the family business in 1988. In 2000, she became a co-owner in the Weicht Funeral Home. Beth married David M. Lee in 1995, and together they are raising two daughters and a son. She is a member of the Angola Eastern Star; Past-President and Past-Treasurer of the Steuben County Republican Women’s Club; Past Board of Directors member of the Angola Area Chamber of Commerce; and has volunteered for several local activities such as Special Olympics and Steuben County Cancer Society.

Susan J. "Suzi" Weicht was born to John "Jack" and Wilma Jean Barney Ulrich in Marion, Indiana. She graduated from Marion High School and from St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She worked as an R.N. in both Cameron Hospital and Elmhurst hospital both of Angola.

She married her husband, Gene Nov. 1, 1963. She has been involved with the funeral home ever since. She has three children, John, Beth and Jeff and five grandchildren. She is a Red Cross Volunteer, a member of the Steuben County Board of Health, a board member of the Steuben County Cancer Society; a member of the Order of Eastern Star where she has served as District Deputy, Past Grand Esther and a former Grand Representative. She enjoys working in the local antique store and running her own business "Susan's Antiques."

Christopher J. Burton

Chris has been serving families at Weicht Funeral Home since September 2002, and we consider our firm to be very fortunate to have him. His commitment to excellence is visible in everything he does for the firm, and most of all, for our families. He is a 2001 graduate of Worsham Mortuary College. Prior to Worsham Mortuary College, he honorably graduated from Davenport College in 1997 with an associate degree in Medical Assisting Administration. He is a member of the Angola United Methodist Church, Barbershop Harmony Society, and the Angola Pokagon Pitchpipers. Chris was originally from Portage, Indiana. He graduated from Portage Christian School in 1990. In 1987, he was hired by Engel Funeral Home where he helped out for approximately 13 years. Chris worked for New Chicago Police Department for 5 years as police/ 911 dispatcher.

Paul E. "Gene" Weicht was born March 4, 1939 to Joseph and Olive (Sharp) Weicht in Angola, Indiana. He graduated from Angola High School in 1957 and Indiana College of Mortuary Science in 1958. Gene became a licensed funeral director and embalmer in 1960. He had started in the business when his father passed away. Gene was 16 years old.

He married Susan J. Ulrich Nov. 1, 1963. They have three children, John J. Weicht, Beth Weicht Lee and Jeff E. Weicht and five grandchildren. Gene, along with his wife “Suzi,” his son John and daughter Beth, still run the business along with Angola Wearly Monuments.

He was a member of the National Guard, 38th Div. Rifle Team from 1959-1965; Life member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars; Benefactor Life Member of the NRA where he was awarded with the National Rifle Association Legion of Honor Award. He is a life member of the Ohio Gun Collectors Association; 32 Mason; Member of York Rite; Scottish Rite and Shrine Masonic Bodies; Past Worthy Patron, Order of Eastern Star; Past President of Pokagon Shrine Club; Past Noble Grand of I.O.O.F. He was a City Councilman from 1972-1980. He enjoys big game hunting and antique gun collecting.
