Ernest B. “Ernie” Keresztes, II, 42 of Angola, IN formerly of South Bend, IN was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on Monday, September 19th at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne.
He was born in South Bend on June 22, 1974 to Ernest B. and Mary G. (Ruscio) Keresztes. He graduated from IU Bloomington with a Bachelors of Psychology.
On October 5, 1995 in Bloomington, IN he married Lori Longenecker.
Ernie is survived by his loving and devoted parents, Ernest and Mary of South Bend; his wife, Lori and his two daughters, Julia G. and Danielle A. Keresztes all of Angola; his brother who had a very close relationship with, Michael (Lourdes) Keresztes of New Braunfels, TX; and his nephews, Ethan and Noah Keresztes who loved spending as much time with him as possible on their visits from Texas.
He also leaves behind a father and mother-in-law, Jim and Judy Longenecker, who he had a close relationship with, brother-in-law, Mike (Jenny) Wenzel, sister-in-law, Sara (Chris) Smith, and nieces and nephews, Samuel, Neva and William Wenzel, Jack and Bentley Smith who all considered Ernie way more than an ‘in-law’, he was a true brother and son.
Ernie was a hard worker who accomplished so much in his ten-year career at Eli Lily and his career at Enterprise Rent-A-Car before that. Everything he did, he did for his family and they were his driving force in all of his achievements.
He was happiest spending time with his two beautiful daughters who looked so much like him and whom he adored and he loved taking walks with his wife who loved him with all of her soul.
Ernie was a big Notre Dame Fan and loved attending home football games with his daughters and eating pizza at his aunt and uncle’s restaurant, Rocco’s afterwards.
He was absolutely adored by his large family and anyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. He was a genuinely kind, compassionate and a solid rock of a man. Words cannot express his amazing character, but in true Ernie fashion, the way he led his life spoke more for his true character than any words that could be written. He loved the Lord and had a heart for Jesus and spreading the love of Jesus. He was not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ and sought to bring His Kingdom here on Earth. He took his oldest daughter, Julia to Israel on a Holy Land Tour in 2011 and followed in the footsteps of Christ by being baptized in the Jordan River.
Ernie’s impact was huge and his legacy will live on in the hearts, minds, souls and memories of his family and many friends who loved him deeply.
John 16:33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
