Shirley G. Scott passed away at her residence in Minneapolis, MN on March 29th. She was born September 25, 1922 to Earlom John Green and Blanche Cromwell Green in Sedalia, Missouri.
Mrs. Scott graduated from Smith-Cotton High School and attended Central Business College, both in Sedalia.
She was married July 19, 1941 to Robert H. Scott Jr. in Kimmswick, Missouri. Her husband preceded her in death in 1991.
A resident of Angola of more than 50 years, the Scott family moved to Angola Indiana in 1962. Shirley worked at Tri- State University, now Trine University, from 1962 to 1988 as administrative assistant to three presidents and the board of trustees.
Shirley was a board member of the following Angola organizations: Steuben County Literacy Coalition, Carnegie Public Library and Steuben County Woman’s Club. She was also a member of the Angola United Methodist Church, and the Angola Book Review Club.
In 2012 Shirley moved into an assisted living apartment at the Kenwood in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Shirley enjoyed reading, knitting and playing bridge.
Survivors also include her daughter Elizabeth Scott of Angola and her son Robert Scott III and his wife Barbara of Minneapolis, Minnesota, her brother Lloyd J. Green and his wife, Marie of Murphysboro, Illinois.
Granddaughters include: Sara Russell, Constantine Michigan; Kate Russell Waterfall and her husband John, Silver Spring, Maryland; Carrie Scott and her husband Brawley Reishman, Oak Park, Illinois and Anne Riley and her husband Tony of Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Great-grandchildren include: Kylie Walker, Solomon Walker and Amaya Walker, Constantine, Michigan; John R. Waterfall, Silver Spring, Maryland; Julia Reichman and Clara Reichman, Oak Park Illinois and Kitta Riley, Minneapolis, Minnesota.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Carnegie Public Library of Steuben County in Angola, Indiana.
A service in Shirley Scott’s memory will be held on Saturday, April 22 at Weicht Funeral Home, 207 N. West St. in Angola with calling beginning at 1 p.m. and the memorial service at 2 p.m. Burial will be at Walnut Grove Cemetery in Boonville, MO where her husband is also buried.
