Donald L. Harris, 73, of Angola, Indiana passed away at his home with his family by his side on Tuesday, January 29, 2019.

He was born on May 17, 1945 in Shelbyville, Indiana to William and Ann (Knose) Harris.  He married Joan M. Slanac on November 26, 1966.

Donald was Vice President and a commercial loan officer for First Financial Corp. in Highland, Indiana.  He had also taught elementary school in his earlier years.  He was a member of MENSA International.

Donald enjoyed the outdoors and loved to fish.  He also enjoyed collecting stamps.

Surviving is his loving wife of 52 years, Joan M. Harris of Angola, Indiana and his daughter, Marianne (Nicholas) Sannito of Waconia, Minnesota.  Also surviving are his two grandchildren, Nathan Sannito and Nolan Sannito.

A Memorial Visitation will be held from 10-12:00 Noon on Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at the Weicht Funeral Home, Angola, Indiana.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Community Humane Shelter of Steuben County, PO Box 204,  Angola, Indiana  46703 or to Parkview Noble Hospice, 1836 Ida Red Road, Kendallville, IN  46755.

Out thoughts and prayers are with all of your family. Don was a great classmate all the way from elementary thru high school. I am so glad we had a chance to visit this past summer at our 55th class get together. He will be missed by all.

Mr. Harris was a kind man who always treated those around him with respect. I appreciated his easygoing manner and his love of good music. I am sorry to hear of his passing.
