Charles L. Phillips

Charles L. Phillips, 85, of Angola, Indiana passed away peacefully with family members present on April 19, 2024.

Chuck was born on July 11, 1938, in Sturgis, Michigan to Victor and Violet (Lung) Phillips.  He went to Mishawaka School and Lima High School in Howe, Indiana.

Chuck married Wanda L. (Rahmer) Riggs on November 26, 1982, at the Methodist Church in Hamilton, Indiana and were happily married for 41 years.  They resided in Hamilton for 17 years before moving to Angola, Indiana in 1999.   

Chuck worked at Seal Power Corporation for 28 years in LaGrange, Indiana, and Federal-Mogel Corporation before retiring.

He had been a member of the Hamilton Church of Christ in Hamilton, Indiana and is member of Pleasant View Church of Christ in Angola, Indiana.

Chuck enjoyed golf tournaments, and was in a bowling league, but one of his greatest loves was fishing.  After retirement he spent a lot of time fishing with friends in Hamilton and Angola areas. If you ever talked with him, you would likely hear a colorful fishing story, or two.

Surviving are his wife, Wanda Riggs Phillips of Angola, Indiana; son, Ron Phillips (friend Nenita Drizal) of Muskegon, Michigan; daughter Brenda (Scott) Brown of Elmira, Michigan; two stepdaughters Brenda (John) Armstrong of Auburn, Indiana and Bonnie Rattigan of North Charleston, South Carolina; brother, Donald Phillips of Howe, Indiana, stepsister Maxine Oswalt of Liberty, South Carolina; stepbrothers, James (Kris) Oswalt and Danny Oswalt both of Iola, Kansas, 6 grandchildren, and 12 great- grandchildren.

Chuck is preceded in death by his parents, two stepsisters, and a step son-in-law.

Memorial Services will be 11:00 AM, Friday, May 10, 2024, at Pleasant View Church of Christ, 200 Fox Lake Road, Angola, Indiana with Michael Booher officiating. 

A Celebration of Life Visitation will be from 10-11 AM on Friday, May 10, 2024, prior to the service at the church.

Graveside services for family and friends will be 3:30 PM, Friday, May 10, 2024, at Floral Grove Cemetery at Pioneer, Ohio.

Memorial donations may be made to Pleasant View Church of Christ or to the Lake James Christian Camp & Retreat Center, Angola, Indiana.
