Roland D. Coler, 81, of Angola, Indiana, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at Northern Lakes Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Angola, Indiana.
Roland was born on March 5, 1943, in Coldwater, Michigan to David Abner and Escelie May (Lilly) Coler. He graduated from Orland High School in 1962.
Roland married the love of his life, Shirley A. Willms on December 21, 1963.
He worked for Stroh Furniture, Fremont, Indiana as a carpet installer before retiring.
Roland was a member of Stroh Church of Christ in Stroh, Indiana and had been a member of the Angola Lions Club.
He enjoyed fishing, boating and tinkering in his garage. But most of all he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Surviving is his loving wife of 60 years, Shirley A. Coler of Angola, Indiana; his children, Christy (Matt) Schoeff of Fort Wayne, Indiana and Alan (Tracy) Coler of Leonidas, Michigan; 4 beloved grandchildren, Cody (Ashley) Schoeff, Makenzie Schoeff, Mitchell (Mackenzie) Coler and Sydney Coler and one great-grandchild, Jayden Schoeff. Also surviving are his brothers, Jerry (Teresa Dove) Coler of Hudson, Indiana, Jim (Leslie) Coler of Angola, Indiana and Greg (Marilyn) Ferris of Tallahassee, Florida and his sister, Diane (Larry) Penix of Angola, Indiana.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Escelie May Coler, father, David Abner Coler and his step-mother, Jane Coler and his Sister, Sandra Molter.
Memorial Graveside services will be 11:00 AM, Thursday, March 28, 2024, at Greenlawn Cemetery in Orland, Indiana with Pastor Mike Hamm officiating
Memorials may be made in Rolands’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association.
