Carma Aleta Griffith, 97, of Tampa, Florida formerly of Angola, Indiana passed away at Justin Family Assisted Living in Tampa, Florida on March 31, 2015.
She was born to Clark and Doris Roberts of Pleasant Lake, Indiana on December 18, 1917.
The oldest of 10 children; she is survived by a sister LuRayne (Ernie) Roehm and a brother, Blaine (Mary Jane) Roberts. She is also survived by her son Gary (Kay) Griffith of Tampa, Florida and a daughter Judy Baier of Grand Junction, Colorado; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Carma graduated from Waterloo High School in 1935.
She married Raymond Griffith October 18, 1936, who preceded her in death.
They spent most of their lives in and near Angola.
She lived a very busy and productive life with many accomplishments; such as two years as president of Business and Professional Women and two terms as Steuben County Treasurer. Additionally, she held several officer positions with Beta Sigma Phi. In 1975 she was Business Women of the Year, Steuben County, and Who’s Who in America. She was a member of the State Secretary of Indiana Counties Treasurers Association, and many other local and civic organizations. This gives one a sense of her character and honor that she possessed. Always employed, she still had time for her family, friends, and hobbies. She will be dearly missed.
Memorial Visitation will be from 3-5 PM, Thursday, April 23, 2015 at the Weicht Funeral Home, Angola.
Private burial will be in the Circle Hill Cemetery, Angola, Indiana.
