John N. “Jack” Gaffin, 91, of Angola, Indiana passed away on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at his home with his family by his side.
He was born on December 20, 1926 in Barberton, Ohio to the late Herschel and Helen (Dannemiller) Gaffin.
Jack attended Canisius College in Buffalo, New York and received his Bachelor’s Degree in Business from Tri-State College in Angola, Indiana.
He married Molly L. Hosack on June 22, 1952.
He served his country in the US Army and was a member of the Angola American Legion Post 31. He was also a member of the Angola United Methodist Church, Angola Lions Club, Angola Masonic Lodge #236, Scottish Rite, Valley of Fort Wayne, Mizpah Shrine Club and Past-President of the Pokagon Shrine Club.
Jack was very active in the community. He was on the Angola City Council for 16 years and had been President of the Angola Chamber of Commerce.
Jack was also an avid athlete and sports fan. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, playing softball and football in his younger years. He also enjoyed dancing, playing cards with his friends and board games. Most of all he loved spending time with his family.
Surviving is his loving wife of 66 years, Molly L. Gaffin of Angola, Indiana; his three daughters, Shery Copeland of Angola, Indiana, Lisa (Daniel) Hochstedler of Pleasant Lake, Indiana and Betsy (Jeffrey) Serafin of Altamonte Springs, Florida. Also surviving are his six grandchildren, Jared and Jen Copeland, Alex Price, Jacob Hochstedler, Joel Price and Nicholas Hochstedler and his five great-grandchildren, Elliot, Emerson, Gavin, Ayden and Everett.
Memorial Services will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at the Angola United Methodist Church with Pastor Tim Terrell officiating .
Visitation will be from 4-7 PM on Friday, July 20, 2018 at the Weicht Funeral Home, Angola, Indiana and one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church.
Burial will be at a later date in Mount Zion Cemetery, Steuben County, Indiana.
