Barry W. Buechley, 77, of Angola, Indiana, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on June 30, 2024, at his home.
Barry was born on March 12, 1947, in Reading, Pennsylvania to Franklin W. and Elizabeth A. (Mertz) Buechley. He graduated from Wilson High School in Pennsylvania in 1965 and from Tri-State University in 1973 with a Bachelor of Arts and Sciences degree.
Barry was proud to have served his country in the United States Army in Vietnam from 1967-1968 and later the Army reserves. He was a member of the Angola American Legion Post 31 and the VFW George Anspaugh Post 702, Angola, Indiana. He had been past president of the Tri-State Veterans Service organization while in school at Tri-State University.
On December 21, 1968, Barry married the love of his life, Sharon K. Poston and together they raised their family in Angola.
Barry worked at Magnevox in Fort Wayne, Indiana for 30 years before retiring from International Harvester in Fort Wayne after 9 years of employment.
He was a member of REACT.
Barry enjoyed hunting, fishing and watching NASCAR. Most of all he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving is his loving wife of 54 years, Sharon K. Buechley of Angola, Indiana, his son and daughter-in-law, Bryan W. and Tina Buechley of Angola, Indiana; two beloved grandchildren, Brandon Buechley of Indianapolis, Indiana and Tiffany (Matthew) Gardner of Angola, Indiana and his two precious great-grandchildren, Mason and Emmie. Also surviving are his sisters, Beverly (Billy) Lanham of Pennsylvania and Barbara (Patrick) Emmett of Pennsylvania, cousins, Phillip (Carol) Krause, Mary Deeds Buechley, Jane Patterson and Nancy Guitas along with his beloved fur baby, Chester.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two nephews, Jeffrey Lanham and Gregory Lanham and cousin, Charles Buechley.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later time.
Memorials may be made in his memory to the Community Humane Shelter of Steuben County.
