Betty Goings Obituary

Betty Jane Goings, 90, of Pleasant Lake, Indiana, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at her home.

 

Jane was born on March 21, 1933, in Angola, Indiana, to Allan Pearl and Thelma Rozena (Berlien) Landis.  She graduated from Pleasant Lake High School in 1951.

 

Jane married the love of her life, Samuel J. Goings on January 14, 1953.

 

She enjoyed doing puzzles, sewing, crafting and going to garage sales. Jane and Sam enjoyed going to their children’s and grandchildren’s basketball and softball games.  Most of all, she loved spending time with her family.         

 

She is survived by her loving husband of 71 years, Samuel J. Goings of Pleasant Lake, Indiana; children, Debra (Johnny) Hicks of Angola, Indiana, Rhonda (David) Sams of Hudson, Indiana, Laura (Bob) Yohey of Angola, Indiana, Melinda (David) Moyer of LaGrange, Indiana, Kraig (Kandi) Goings of Angola, Indiana; Andrea (Josh) Johnson of Fremont, Indiana and Stacey Sherburne of Fremont, Indiana; her 17 beloved grandchildren, Beth (Enos) Steury, Chad (Julie) Hoover, Amy Sams, Adam (Brittany) Sams, Wendy (Daniel) Davis, LaVern (Melissa) Higbee, Brent (Brent Robinson) Moyer, MacKenzie (Josh) Durbin, Madison (Reeve) Zolman, Kelsie (Brandon) Ferrell, Kiersten (Aaron) Friend, Kaitlin (Tyler) Brandon, Cora (Tyler Ougel) Hayes, Kaleb (Jessica) Hayes, Collin (Bailey) Sherburne, Chelsea (Hunter) Leskowyak and Ella Kerner; 29 great-grandchildren, Sophia and Grady Hoover, Natalie (Jake) Dunlap, Hayden and Avery Boyer, Caydren and Dawsyn Sams, Braydon and Khloe Davis, Trenton Dunn, JD (Mackenzie) Davis, Tylan (Amanda) Davis, Devin Davis, Ashlande and Kenton Higbee, Jacob and Jeremiah Robinson-Moyer, Lynleigh and Lilah Durbin, Royal and Mabel Zolman, Baden and Baylor Ferrell, Kambree and Krew Friend, Kinley Brandon, Gunner Hayes, Evelyn Sherburne and Jett Leskowyak and 3 great-great grandchildren, Gracie and Dacyn Davis.  Also surviving is her brother, Kenton (Rosalie) Landis of Pleasant Lake, Indiana and sisters, Emily Russell of Angola, Indiana, Cynthia (Dan) Allen of Round Rock, Texas, Jeannine (Dave) Ross of West Unity, Ohio and Jennifer (Edward) Radabaugh of Spicewood, Texas.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Jack Landis and sister, Janet Wilson.

 

Following Jane’s wishes, there will not be any services at this time.
