Betty P. Goranson, 98, of Auburn, Indiana, formerly of Angola, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 17, 2021.
She was born in Martha, Nebraska on May 23, 1923, to Carl and Ida (Dailey) Lambert. Betty graduated from Ewing High School in Ewing, Nebraska and received her bachelor’s degree in Music from University of Southern California.
On May 10, 1945, she married Dean Norman Goranson.
She had been co-owner of Viking Gravel for many years. Betty and Dean opened Sycamore Hill Bed & Breakfast in 1963.
She had been a member of the Angola United Methodist Church, where she had been Choir Director for the church and Choir Director of the Children’s Choir. She also was a member of the Presbyterian Chapel of the Lakes, Angola, Indiana.
Betty was a 50-year member of the Order of Eastern Star in Angola and later Ashley, Indiana.
In 2020, Betty established the Betty P. Goranson Music Scholarship Fund through the Steuben County Community Foundation.
Surviving is her son, Rodger Goranson of Fort Wayne, Indiana, nephews and nieces. She is also survived by special friends, Paul and Inger Friend of Angola, Indiana.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, January 22, 2022, at the Presbyterian Chapel of the Lakes, Angola, Indiana with Rev. Thomas E. Smith officiating.
Visitation will be from 2-3 pm on Saturday, January 22, 2022, prior to the service at the Presbyterian Chapel of the Lakes, Angola, Indiana.
Memorial donations may be made to the Betty P. Goranson Music Scholarship Fund through the Steuben County Community Foundation or to the Presbyterian Chapel of the Lakes.
