Cleon Throop Obituary
Cleon L. Throop, 99, of Angola, Indiana passed away on Monday, June 25, 2018 at Orchard Pointe Health Campus, Kendallville, Indiana.
He was born on November 16, 1918 to Guy and Mabel (Brouse) Throop at his family’s home by Clear Lake, Steuben County, Indiana. He married Pauline B. Bailey on September 14, 1940.
Cleon, along with his wife, purchased Throop Florist in Angola, Indiana in 1944. He retired in 1979 after 35 years.
He was a member of the board of directors at First Federal Savings Bank, Angola for 58 years and had served as Vice-President of the board for over 38 years. He was a 73 year member of the Angola Lions Club, member of Jaycees and served on the Angola City Council from 1960-1963. He was a former member of the Angola Junior Chamber of Commerce.
Cleon and his wife were snowbirds and enjoyed 36 years of retirement in Tidevue Estates, Ellenton, Florida.
He enjoyed playing golf and won many trophies playing shuffleboard.
Surviving are his loving wife of 77 years, Pauline B. Throop of Angola, son, Thomas (Carla) Throop of Montana, two nephews, Dr. Greg (Rebecca) Barry of Fremont and Roger (Anna) Barry of Fremont. Also surviving are two step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Mildred Barry and brother Guy Jr. Throop.
Funeral Services will be at 2:00 PM, Friday, June 29, 2018 at the Weicht Funeral Home, Angola, Indiana with Douglas Deller officiating.
Final resting place will be in Highland Park Cemetery, Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Visitation will be on Thursday, June 28, 2018 from 4-6 PM at the funeral home.
