Colleen Saylor Obituary

Colleen Ruth Saylor, 78, of Fremont, Indiana passed away on Thursday, December 5, 2024, in Auburn, Indiana at Auburn Village Rehabilitation and Post-Acute Care. 

She was born on May 14, 1946, in Oceanside, California to Ruth Powers and Louis M. Anspaugh.  Colleen graduated third in her class from Angola High School in 1964.

After graduation, her first job was for the Steuben Republican and The Angola Herald Newspapers where she started as the receptionist.

Colleen married Thomas Cory Saylor on June 26th, 1995, at Fort Mackinac Park on Mackinac Island, Michigan.

Upon her retirement in 2001, she was the Editor of the Herald Republican. During this time, she also worked with her husband Tom & their family helping build Tom's Donuts into The Donut Capital of the World®.  

Colleen was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.  She was an accomplished pianist starting at the young age of 8 years old and the Francis Elliott Clark Music Club. 

Colleen and Tom loved to travel, especially to Mexico with their friends.  Their best days were spent together at the donut store, working side by side for over 30 years.

Surviving is her husband, Thomas Cory Saylor of Fremont, Indiana, her brothers, Eric (Mikki) Anspaugh of Pleasant Lake, Indiana and Galen (Pam) Anspaugh of Auburn, Indiana, her sister-in-law Sue Saylor and her companion Tom of Angola, Indiana.  Also surviving are her stepchildren, Todd Cory (Traci) Saylor of Bradenton, Florida, Thomas Shane (Nicole) Saylor of Fort Wayne, Indiana and Taryn (Marty) Harris of Bradenton, Florida along with her grandchildren Courtnee, Kendra, Kara, Tommy, Reagan, Amanda, Austin and Olyvia and great-grandchildren Saylor, Nora, Judah and Jachin.  Her nephews,  Alex (Samantha) Yarian and Sam (Payton) Yarian and great niece and nephews Jude, Wells and Eva.

She was preceded in death by her parentsand brother-in-law, Ted Saylor.

A gathering of friends and family will be from 10-11 AM on Friday, December 20, 2024, at the Weicht Funeral Home in Angola Indiana with a Memorial Service at 11:00 AM.

A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date next summer at the Angola American Legion Post 31.

Memorial donations may be given to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research
