Daniel Jerome Nichter

Daniel Jerome Nichter, 70, of Angola, Indiana, passed away peacefully Monday, August 4, 2025, at his home.

Dan was born on August 12, 1954, in Fort Wayne, Indiana to Jerome and Dorothy (Rosswurm) Nichter. He graduated from New Haven High School in 1972 and received his Bachelor of Science from IPFW in 1984.

He was a Senior Software Engineer for Raytheon Technologies before retiring in 2018.

Dan married the love of his life, Dawn, on September 6, 1991.

Dan enjoyed the lake, Purdue basketball, anything to do with NASA or space and going out for breakfast. Most of all he loved spending time with his family.

Dan was a sweet, caring, gentle and kind soul, always thinking of others. He will truly be missed.

Surviving are his loving wife of 33 years, Dawn N. Nichter of Angola; children, Rick "R.A." (Melissa) Yarger of Denver, Colorado and Megan (Neal) Murray of Fort Wayne and four grandchildren, Lila, Caroline, Ethan and Ricki. Also surviving are his 9 siblings, Kathy Mowery of Fort Wayne, Vicki (Doug) Brooks of New Haven, Mary (Dan) Eakright of Durham, North Carolina, Mike (Judy) Nichter of Fort Wayne, Denise Hill of Auburn, Larry (Kim) Nichter of Fort Wayne, Tom (Meg) Nichter of Sanford, North Carolina, Chuck (Becky) Nichter of Lincoln, Montana and Steve (Theresa) Nichter of Crittenton, Kentucky.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A Celebration of Life will be held in the future at Lake James Christian Camp & Retreat Center, Angola.
