Dennis M. “Hoolie” Hoolihan, 73, of Angola, Indiana, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, March 26, 2024.
Born on October 13, 1950, in Angola, Indiana, he was the son of the Late Harold R. and Beatrice (Norton) Hoolihan. Dennis graduated from Angola High School in 1969 and had attended Tri-State University.
He began his career in Law Enforcement for the Steuben County Sherriff’s Department right out of high school. On August 1st, 1976, he became an officer for the Angola City Police Department, retiring on August 14, 2000. Dennis was on the Reserves for the police department from 2000-2017.
Dennis also worked part-time at Skip’s Party Place and CA Nedele & Sons, both of Angola.
He was a member of the Angola Moose Lodge #1568, Fraternal Order of Police and the Sons of the American Legion Post 31.
Dennis enjoyed target practicing and keeping stats and working on the chain crew for Angola High School football and the Trine University football games. He liked watching sports, especially the Green Bay Packers and Trine University Basketball. He also enjoyed watching and supporting his grandchildren in their sporting and school events.
Most of all he loved spending time with his family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving are his children, Katherine L. “Katie” (Brad) Kline of Angola, Indiana and Michael R. (Stacy Endsley) Hoolihan of Waterloo, Indiana; four beloved grandchildren, Eva Hoolihan, Bo Hoolihan, Xander Gibson and Courtney Kline and two beloved great-grandchildren, Archer and Ava.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 1-4 PM, Saturday, April 20, 2024, at the Angola American Legion Post 31, 1760 W. Maumee Street, Angola, Indiana 46703.
