Dennis Lynn Thompson Sr., 80, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Friday, August 11, 2023, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Dennis was born on September 17, 1942, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, to Donald F. and Hazel E. (Nicelly) Thompson. He graduated from New Haven High School in 1960.
Dennis married the love of his life, Jeanne C. Faurote on May 29, 1965. Together, they raised their family in Fort Wayne and Angola.
Dennis was proud to serve in the United States Air National Guard from 1960-1967.
He had been Senior Vice President of Current Mechanical, retiring in December of 2012.
Dennis was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Waterloo, Indiana. He had been a Grand Knight and a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Dennis was a member of the Local 166 for over 40 years.
He enjoyed golfing, traveling and doing yard work. Most of all Dennis loved spending time with his family.
Surviving is his loving wife of 58 years, Jeanne C. Thompson of Fort Wayne, Indiana; children, Dennis L. (Kelly L. Burrow) Thompson Jr. of Noblesville, Indiana and Lori C. (Dan) Caruso of Angola, Indiana; his four beloved grandchildren, Natalie (Michael) Barney, Rachel (Luke Mungovan) Caruso, Hunter Thompson and Josephine Thompson and his beloved great-granddaughter, Mia Carolyn Barney. Also surviving are his sister, Ellen (James) Goegline of Fort Wayne, Indiana and his sister-in-law, Sharon Thompson of New Haven, Indiana.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Donald Lee Thompson and his sister, Jacqueline Oswald.
Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 18, 2023, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Angola, Indiana.
Visitation will be from 10 AM to 11:00 AM on Friday, August 18, 2023, prior to the service at the church.
Burial with Military Honors by the Angola American Legion and the United States Air Force Honor Guard will be at St Michael Catholic Cemetery, Waterloo, Indiana immediately following Funeral Mass.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Lung Association or the American Heart Association.
