Doris R. (Raney) Kurtz

Doris R. Kurtz, 86, passed away on Sunday, September 24, 2023, at 10:29 PM at home.

Born on June 22, 1937, in Angola, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Samuel M. and Emma M. (Robertson) Raney.  She was a devoted wife, homemaker and later in life worked for Steuben County Co-op, retiring after 25 years of service.

Doris graduated from Angola High School in 1955.  After graduation, she married the love of her life, August S. Kurtz Jr. on July 24, 1955.  He preceded her in death on September 29, 2008.

She was a member of the Flint United Methodist Church and served as Secretary of the Administrative Board.

Doris is survived by her three children, a daughter, Sherri L. White of Angola, Indiana, and sons, Michael L. (Tina) Kurtz of Angola, Indiana and Eric A. (John Yeap) Kurtz of Angola, Indiana.

She was blessed with 16 Grandchildren, 21 Great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.  She loved all of them very much and enjoyed making them cookies and making breakfast for them.

She is also survived by her two sisters, Carolyn Galyean of Centerville, Indiana and Barbara Kemp of New Braunfels, Texas and a sister-in-law, Diane (Don) Rumsey of Orland, Indiana.

She was preceded in death by her son, Steven M. Kurtz from Louisville, Kentucky, Mother, Emma M. (Robertson) Raney, Father, Sam M. Raney from Versailles, Indiana, a brother, Carl S. Raney of Moorhead City, North Carolina, her late Brother-in-law, James R. Galyean and two grandchildren, Sarah E. White & Emmy L. White of Angola, Indiana.

Funeral Services will be at 12:00 Noon, on Friday, September 29, 2023, at the Weicht Funeral Home, Angola, Indiana.  Pastor J. L. Horton officiating.

Family and friends will be received from 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon on Friday, September 29, 2023, prior to the service at the funeral home.

The committal and burial will be immediately after the funeral service at Flint Cemetery, Steuben County, Indiana.

Memorial donations may be made to the Flint United Methodist Church in Flint, Indiana.
