Elizabeth (Neff) Trennepohl

Elizabeth “Beth” Trennepohl, 98, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 18, 2018, surrounded by her caregivers and friends at her home at Cameron Woods in Angola.  She was born at New Paris, Indiana, on July 24, 1920, to Rollo and Jessie (Leatherman) Neff.  On June 6, 1948, she married Donald L. Trennepohl at the Maple Grove Church of the Brethren in New Paris, Indiana.  He preceded her in death in 2013.

She graduated from New Paris High School, Manchester College with a BA degree, and Indiana University with a MS in Education.  She began teaching home economics and English in Avilla, Indiana, then her profession led her to teaching at Walkerton, Mishawaka, Unionville, and finally to Steuben County with positions at Flint and Angola.  She retired after forty years of teaching, with the final twenty-five years at Angola.  In retirement, she and Don spent their winters in Lake Worth, Florida.  Beginning in 1999, they made their home at Cameron Woods in Angola.

She was a sixty-six year member of the Angola United Methodist Church, a 4-H leader for twenty years, a member of the Retired Teachers’ Association, and had belonged to the Steuben Women’s Club.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and three sisters.  Surviving are two nieces, Susan (Randy) Schrock of Goshen, Indiana; Donna (Dennis) Whittaker of Jesup, Georgia; a nephew, John (Bernice) Neff of Wisconsin; special friend, John (Jack) Berger, and those who knew her as “Aunt Beth,” John (Val) Berger, Susan Berger, John (Julie) Stevens, and Ginny Stevens, all of Angola.

To be announced at a later date, there will be a Celebration of Life service at Cameron Woods, 701 Harcourt Road, Angola.  Burial will be in Whitehead Cemetery near New Paris, Indiana.
