Gilbert C. Hanson

Gilbert C. Hanson, 82, of Angola, Indiana, passed on to Glory on Wednesday, October 12, 2022, at his home.

Born February 6, 1940, in Waukegan, Illinois, he was the son of Gilbert and Mildred (Jacobs) Hanson.  Gilbert graduated from Warren High School in Gurnee, Illinois.

He was proud to serve his county in the United States Air Force.

Gilbert worked for Hayes Lemmerz, a division of Goodyear, in Bristol, Indiana before retiring.

He enjoyed fishing, spending time outdoors, yardwork, and playing cards such as Euchre and Cribbage.  In his early years, he enjoyed playing sports.  He liked to passionately watch his favorite sports teams on the television.  Most of all he loved spending time with his family and sharing his faith with others.  Gilbert was the past president of the Steuben County Gideons.

Gilbert was the rock of the family.  He was always around for advice, comfort and support.  Family and friends will deeply miss him, as he always put family first.

Surviving are his sons, Robert Hanson of Angola, Indiana, Eric (Karen Bastien) Hanson of Williamston, Michigan and Mark Murphy of Kenosha, Wisconsin; his daughters, Linnea Everitt of Shipshewana, Indiana and Debra Deuter of Angola, Indiana; brothers, Bill Hanson of Wisconsin, Tom (Sarah) Hanson of Illinois and Brad Hanson of Illinois;  sister, Barb Dvorak of Wisconsin and his former wife and mother of his children, Georgia Hanson of Shipshewana, Indiana.  Also surviving are his 7 beloved grandchildren, Jared, Julie, Grant, Jackie, Maddie, Jace and Lakota and 10 beloved great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Robert Hanson and Donald Hanson; his granddaughter, Jalinn Everitt, as well as sons-in-law, Dave Deuter, Randy Speidell and Joe Everitt.

Funeral Services will be at 1:00 PM on Monday, October 17, 2022, at the Weicht Funeral Home in Angola, Indiana with Pastor Joel Greenwood officiating.

Visitation will be from 12 Noon to 1 PM on Monday, October 17, 2022, prior to the service at the funeral home.

Burial with Military Honors by the Angola American Legion Post 31 and the Unitec States Air Force Honor Guard will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Orland, Indiana.
