Gloria Amstutz Obituary

Gloria Ann Amstutz (‘nee Shipe) passed away on April 25, 2024, after a 6-year battle with cancer.  She fought bravely, going through several intense surgeries and many rounds of chemotherapy.

Gloria was born in Angola, Indiana on February 24, 1967, to Daniel L. and Gladys M. (Huss) Shipe.  She graduated from Angola High School in 1985.  She received her CPO 1 and 2 certifications.

She married Robert L. Amstutz Jr. on August 12, 1989.

Gloria raised two beautiful daughters.  After her daughters were in school, she worked as a church secretary at Concordia Lutheran Church in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and the Waterloo Methodist Church in Waterloo, Indiana. Eventually she joined Baals and Weigand Eye Care as a technician and found her professional calling.  She loved learning about the eye, adjusting glasses, and helping patients.  She worked for over 10 years at Baals and Weigand and then Midwest Eye Consultants before ultimately having to retire to fight her cancer.

Gloria enjoyed working on home improvement projects, outdoor projects, hiking, and traveling.  Her main joy, however, was spending time with her family and her recent addition of two beautiful grandchildren.

She was loved by all who met her and will be missed by all who knew her.

Gloria is survived by her husband of 34 years, Robert L. Amstutz Jr. of Pleasant Lake, Indiana, daughters, Samantha (Michael Edwards) Amstutz of Columbia, South Carolina and Allison (Shayne) Hamilton of Payne, Ohio, two grandchildren, Wyatt and Willow Hamilton, three brothers, Bob (Brenda) Shipe of Angola, Indiana, Ron Shipe of Pleasant Lake, Indiana, and Rick (Brenda) Shipe of Angola, Indiana, 3 sisters, Diana (James) Penick of Angola, Indiana, Donna (Mark) Thrasher of Angola, Indiana, and Deb (Gary) True of Angola, Indiana, her mother, Gladys M. Shipe of Pleasant Lake, Indiana, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father Daniel L. Shipe.
