Grover Marwood (Woody) Turner Jr., age 72, became an angel on September 10, 2018. He passed away with peace and grace at the Cleveland Clinic, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Woody was born on May 2, 1946, in Indianapolis, to Dorothe and Grover Marwood Turner. He attended Shortridge High School and North Central High School and graduated from Indiana University where he was a member of the Sigma Chi fraternity. He enjoyed driving his many sports cars and could be found boating, watching sunsets from the deck, snuggling his Westies, Bettc and Angel, and enjoying his days on Lake James with his wife, Anne. He was happiest entertaining his friends and family at the lake and was known as the “grill master” by many. He was also an incredible dancer and loved dancing to “I Believe In You”, by Don Williams.
Woody was a loving husband to his wife Anne Crankshaw Turner; devoted father to his daughter, Angela Elizabeth (Mike) Hall, and grandson Graham, Westfield; and his son, Ryan Turner, Kalamazoo. He is also survived by sisters Linda Butler, Indianapolis, and Fransessca Turner and niece Uli of Sarasota, FL; brother and sister-in law, Bob Crankshaw and Susan Crankshaw, Angola; uncle and aunt, Ray and Dona Colglazier, St Simon Island, GA. He was preceded in death by his Westies, Corey, Cece, and Molly.
Woody and Anne founded and have worked together at Core Communications promotional products since 1987. He was a member of Angola Rotary International and was instrumental with the annual Scholarship Golf Tournament, and the Angola Elks.
He particularly enjoyed spending time with his grandson, teaching him to be a young man full of life and adventure. The legacy of Woody’s kind spirit, gentle disposition, ability to persist through challenges, incredible sense of humor, and zest for life will live on through those who love him so dearly.
