H. Jean (Williams) Lowden

H. Jean Lowden, 102, of Angola, Indiana passed away on December 6, 2018 at Aperion Care of Angola, Indiana.  

She was born on April 15, 1916 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Harry and Ruth (Baltzell) Williams.  She was raised in Adams County, Indiana and graduated from Pleasant Mills High School in 1933.  She attended International Business College in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

She married Nolen C. Lowden in Fort Wayne, Indiana on May 17, 1941.  They moved to Angola in 1962.

Jean had been a bookkeeper for Coca Cola Bottling Works in Fort Wayne and for Otto Nord Builders for 24 years.  She also delivered the Fort Wayne Journal Gazette and the Smart Shopper for the Harold Republican Newspapers retiring in 1996.  

Jean was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.  She enjoyed gardening, cooking, genealogy and spending time with her family and friends.

She volunteered for the Steuben County Council on Aging and was a member of the Calvary Lutheran Church, Angola and the D.A.R.

Surviving are her sons, Kenneth D. (Judith A. McClain) Lowden of Angola and Avon Park, Florida and Howard James (Anita) Lowden of Rome, Georgia.  Also surviving are her 6 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Nolan C. Lowden on August 27, 1997 and her sister, Edith Green.

Funeral Services will be at 3:00 PM on Sunday, December 9, 2018 at the Weicht Funeral Home, Angola, Indiana.

Visitation will be from 2-3 PM on Sunday, December 9, 2018 prior to the service at the funeral home.

Private family burial will take place in Harlan Memorial Gardens, Harlan, Indiana.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Jean’s memory may be made to Calvary Lutheran Church, Angola, Indiana or to the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital.
