Joan M. (Schaeffer) Sheets

Joan M. Sheets, 101, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, January 4, 2024.

She was born on October 19, 1922, in Fremont, Indiana to Lewis and Mazie (Mountz) Schaeffer.  Joan graduated from Fremont High School in 1940.

Joan was a clerk for the City of Angola and then managed the License Branch in Angola, Indiana for several years.

She was a member of the First Church of Christ, Scientist in Fort Wayne, Indiana.  Joan was Past Vice Chairman of the Steuben County Republican Party.

Surviving are his sons, Charles “Chuck” L. (Rita) Nedele of Angola, Indiana and Thomas “Tom” W. Nedele of Angola; her daughter, Kathleen “Kathie” (Jim) Sibert of Gahanna, Ohio; sister, Rosemary Davis of Fort Wayne, Indiana, five grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild.  Also surviving are the extended families of Kay Sanxter and Ralph Sheets.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Roscoe C. Nedele, Kay Sanxter and Ralph Sheets; and siblings, Pauline “Polly” Anderson, Ned Schaeffer, Helen Sparks, Frances Schaeffer and John Schaeffer.

Following Joan’s wishes, there will be no services.
