John Howell Jr., 88, of Angola, Indiana, passed away suddenly at his home in Angola, Indiana on Saturday, December 16, 2023.
Born on April 12, 1935, in Mercer County, Ohio, he was the son of the Late John Sr. and Inez (Monroe) Howell. John graduated from Buckland High School and attended Auctioneer School.
John married Carol Ann Knudsen on December 22, 1962.
John was proud to serve his country in the United States Army and was a member of the Angola American Legion Post 31.
He was a member of the Angola Christian Church. He was also a 50-year member of the Angola Masonic Lodge #236, Fort Wayne Scottish Rite Valley and a former member of the Mizpah Shrine Club.
Surviving are his siblings, Mary (Philip) Kessel of Colorado, Nila Fox of Indiana, Samual (Mary) Howell of Ohio, Norman (Lois) Howell of Ohio, Robert (Mary) Howell of Ohio; nieces and nephews, Dianne (Porter) Bertalsen, Kurt (Leigh) Kessel, Bart (Amy) Kessel, Jeff (Tia) Fox, Rhonda Welsh, Angie Howell, Darlene Howell, Candy Howell, Tina Knatz, Stacey (Andy) Siepel, Mark (Dianne) Howell, Christine (Rex) Huffer and Kathy (William) Mollenkamp, Cheryl Donaldson Pham of Florida. Also surviving are 23 great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife, Carol Howell on July 6, 2009, and sister, Penny Huckemeyer.
Funeral Services will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, December 22, 2023, at the Weicht Funeral Home, Angola, Indiana officiated by Pastor Nate Drown and the Masonic Services will be by the Angola Masonic Lodge #236.
Burial with Military Honors by the Angola American Legion Post 31 will be at Circle Hill Cemetery, Angola, Indiana.
