John Edwin McIntire

John Edwin McIntire, 77, of Angola, loving husband, father, and grandfather, went to be with his Lord and Savior on January 11, 2019, while his family held his hands.
He was born July 13, 1941 in Richmond Indiana to the late Marion McIntire and Petra (Klute) McIntire. He was a 1959 graduate of Richmond High School and a 1963 graduate of Purdue University. He served his country honorably in the United States Army.
John married the love of his life Catherine (Doulgeris) McIntire.  They spent 37 years loving one another every day.   Among their favorite activities together was taking RV trips including tours of the Midwest, Southwest, and a journey to Alaska, with their favorite location being Banff National Park in Alberta, Canada.
John had a career at Magnavox Corporation in Fort Wayne, retiring with over 31 years of dedicated service.
He enjoyed being outdoors on his John Deere tractor, walking with his wife and beloved dogs, visiting Pokagon State Park, and working in his wood shop crafting heirlooms. Greatest of all, John loved spending time creating memories with his family, especially his grandchildren who knew him as Pappap. They could be found helping him with yard work, building Legos, completing a puzzle, at the barbershop, or visiting McDonald’s.
He is survived by those who love and miss him most; his wife, Catherine; a son, Mark McIntire of Chicago, Illinois, a daughter, Anna (Daniel) Smith of Angola; four grandchildren, Jonah Smith, Isaiah Smith, Anaiah Smith, Clarah Smith all of Angola; and a sister, Jacki (Rich) Williams of Richmond, Indiana; and two nieces, Debbi Bushman and Sheri (Pete) Isenberg. He is preceded in death by a niece, Suzi Williams; and nephew in-law, Dave Bushman.
A private family service will be held in memory and burial will be at Circle Hill Cemetery in Angola.
