John “Jack” Joseph Kobak, Jr, 85, of Angola, Indiana, formerly of North Huntingdon, Pennsylvania, passed away on Friday, May 15, 2026, at Lakeland Rehab and Healthcare Center.
Jack was born February 1, 1941, in McKeesport, Pennsylvania to John and Mary (Sokoskej) Kobak. He graduated from McKeesport High School and earned an Associate’s Degree in Industrial Engineering from Penn State. He married Susan (Wisbar) Kobak on April 15, 1972.
He worked for US Steel and Robroy Industries before retiring from Rittal Electromate. He was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Angola and was a member and previous officer in the Knights of Columbus.
Jack was a loving husband and father. He lived a life of service, spending 30 years as a volunteer EMT with Rescue 8 in North Huntingdon, PA prior to his move to Angola. Jack also served with the Air Force in the Air National Guard. He loved traveling to new places, including Caribbean and Mediterranean cruises with his wife, trips to most of the Big Ten stadiums for Penn State football games, and visiting California and Washington DC to spend time with his daughter. He recently enjoyed touring Portugal with his daughter, including a visit to the Sanctuary of Fatima. He enjoyed the Fort Wayne Corvette Club, especially “Rolling Into Roanoke” and the cruise to the Indiana Veterans’ Home in West Lafayette. He was a skilled builder who designed and constructed the family home in Pennsylvania and later completed remodels at his home in Indiana. Jack also enjoyed gardening, long drives in his yellow Corvette, and spending time with his pets.
Surviving is his daughter Kara Kobak of Washington, DC, and his beloved pug Piper.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and his sister, Joan (Kobak) Malacki.
Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, May 22, 2026, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Angola, with visitation from 10-11 AM prior to the service.
Visitation will also be from 4-6 PM Thursday, May 21, 2026, at the Weicht Funeral Home, Angola with a prayer service at 5:30 PM.
Memorials may be made in Jack’s memory to the Prostate Cancer Foundation.
