ANGOLA
Joseph E. “Joe” Tanner, 76, of Angola, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 25, 2016 at home with his family.
He was born October 17, 1939 in Covington, Indiana to Riffle and Katie (Merryman) Tanner. He married Mary Ann Owens on February 9, 1958.
Joe graduated from Covington High School in 1957. He worked for Olin Cellophane for ten years. In 1968 he began working for Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance in Fountain County and Vermillion County. In 1978 he moved to Angola and was the Agency Manager for Steuben and LaGrange Counties Farm Bureau Insurance retiring in 1995.
Joe was an avid fisherman and hunter. Most of all he loved spending time with his family.
Surviving is his loving wife of 58 years, Mary Ann Tanner of Angola, Indiana; two sons, Joe (Barbara) Tanner of Trafalgar, Indiana and Jeff (Beth) Tanner of Coldwater, Michigan; one daughter Tammy Tanner of Angola, Indiana; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two uncles and one aunt.
Services will be private.
Burial will be in Circle Hill Cemetery, Angola, Indiana.
