Karen Jean (Edwards) Smith

Karen Jean Edwards Smith, 88, of Angola, Indiana, formerly of Syracuse, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 14, 2025, at Parkview DeKalb Hospital in Auburn, Indiana.

Karen was born on February 17, 1937, in Spencer, Indiana to Liston and Agnes (McIntosh) Edwards.  She graduated from Lafayette Jefferson High School, Lafayette, Indiana in 1954 and attended Purdue University.

Karen married the love of her life, Henry L. Smith, on June 18, 1955.

She was a Secretary for the Wawasee School Corporation before becoming a Real Estate Agent for Todd Realty in Syracuse, Indiana.

Karen was a member of the Pleasant View Church of Christ in Angola, Indiana, the Indiana State Secretarial Teachers Association and the National Real Estate Association.

She was an artist and enjoyed painting, interior decorating, gardening, taking care of her flowers and watching the birds around her home.  Most of all she loved spending time with her family.

Surviving is her loving husband of 69 years, Henry L. Smith of Angola, Indiana; three sons, Mark (Jenny) Smith of Granger, Indiana, Bryan (Diana) Smith of Fort Wayne, Indiana and Kevin (Gina) Smith of Angola, Indiana; 8 beloved grandchildren, Christina (Matt Capps) Smith, Ben (Aimee) Smith, Eric (Kate) Smith, Adam (KC Lindley) Smith, Anna (Adam) Michalos, Michael (Amanda) Smith, Hanna (Marshal) Elder and Molly (Michael) Forthofer and her 20 precious great-grandchildren.  Also surviving are her two sisters, Nancy (John) Jennett of Lafayette, Indiana and Linda (David) Catlin of Plainfield, Indiana.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, April 25, 2025, at Pleasant View Church of Christ in Angola, Indiana.  Michael D. Booher, Minister, will be officiating.

Visitation will be from 10-11 AM, Friday, April 25, 2025, at the church prior to the service.

Final resting place will be in Powers Cemetery, Angola, Indiana.
