Kiyoko Ireland Obituary

Kiyoko Ireland, 81, of Angola, Indiana, died peacefully on January 15, 2013 at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne, Indiana. She was born November 25, 1931 in Beppu City, Japan to Tameichi and Shizue (Sato) Nagai. She married George Dale Ireland in 1961. Kiyoko traveled extensively throughout the U.S. and Europe with George, a CMSGT with the U.S. Air Force, and her children, Sylvia and Ruth Ann. Following George's retirement from the U.S. Air Force, the family moved to the Ireland farm in Angola. Over the years, Kiyoko took care of countless animals, particularly cats, and continued to care for numerous cats until she was hospitalized on January 13, 2013. As she would have wished, homes were found for all the cats she adored so much. She was a wonderful cook, and enjoyed cooking for friends and family almost as much as friends and family enjoyed her cooking. She is survived by her two daughters and sons-in-law Sylvia and John Hicks of Athens, Alabama; Ruth and Douglas Jean of Indianapolis, Indiana; four grandchildren Nikki (Brian) Marcoulier of Clarksville, Tennessee, Jonathan Hicks of Athens, Alabama; Katie Hicks of Athens, Alabama; and Thomas Jean of Indianapolis, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 50 years George Dale Ireland on February 4, 2012. A memorial service was held on January 16, 2013 at the family farm. Graveside services will be at 10 AM, Saturday, July 13, 2013 at Circle Hill Cemetery, Angola, Indiana with Rev. Brian Marcoulier officiating.
