Lum Murphy, 77, passed away, Tuesday, August 2, 2016 surrounded by his family at home.
He was born May 22, 1939 in Asheville, North Carolina to Pink and Nellie (Howington) Murphy.
Lum worked at Dana Weatherhead in Angola for 27 years and transferred to Dana Weatherhead in Pottstown, Pennsylvania where he worked for 3 years, retiring in 1997.
He was a member of the Angola Moose Lodge #1568, Hamilton Fish and Game Club and the Angola American Legion Post 31. He was also a member of the Local UAW#1644 Pottstown, Pennsylvania and the Local UAW#1406 of Angola, Indiana.
Surviving are three sons, Robert (Pam) Murphy of LaGrange, Indiana, Charles (Robin) Murphy of Hamilton and Rodney (Vickie) Murphy of Angola, Indiana; daughter, Brenda (Tom) Crampton of Angola, Indiana; sister Dorabell Presley of Canton, North Carolina; 16 grandchildren, Justin Murphy, Nicole Murphy, Brandi (Rick) Littlefield, Tosha Brown, Charles (Midori) Murphy, Sean Murphy, Joshua (Lindsey) Crampton, Jennifer (Jason) Fitzcharles, Drew (Jacinda) Runyon, Jared Crampton, Taylor Raugh, Alana Murphy, Aliza Murphy, Lance (Chelsea) Gustin, Norman (Barbara) Fuch and Terry (Julie) Ross; and 15 great-grandchildren, Jake Littlefield, Tommy Littlefield, Dawson Littlefield, Chandra Littlefield, Destiny Smith, Aiden Littlefield, Mason Brown, Chloe Brown, Olivia Brown, Willyam Likio Murphy, Claire Murphy, Zariah Runyon, Zelen Runyon, Elli Fitzcharles and Emma Fitzcharles and his former wife and friend, Georgia Shepherd.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Fred, Charles and Grady Murphy and one infant sister.
Visitation will be from 4-8 PM Friday, August 5, 2016 with a 7:30 PM Moose Service by the Angola Moose Lodge #1568 at the Weicht Funeral Home, Angola.
Lum will be taken home next week to Asheville, North Carolina for burial in the Mt Olive Cemetery.
Memorials may be given in Lum’s memory to the Angola Moose Lodge #1568.
