Marilyn Gryder Obituary

Marilyn S. Gryder, 76, of Angola, Indiana, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at her home.

Marilyn was born on October 9, 1949, in Washington, Indiana to Howard A. and Inez M. (Chanley) Selby.  She graduated from Petersburg High School in 1967.

Marilyn married the love of her life, James Michael Gryder, on May 28, 1971.

She worked at Vestil Mfg. in Angola, Indiana for over 10 years before retiring.

Marilyn enjoyed reading, cooking and socializing with friends and family.  But most of all she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Surviving are her children, Jamie (Darian) Stein of Angola, Indiana, Jason (Melissa) Gryder of Angola, Indiana and Jeremy (Julie) Gryder of Cincinnati, Ohio; 10 beloved grandchildren, Alec (Brittany) Trine, Kennedy (Chris) Clemens, Addison (Jacob Limbach) Trine, Jaxon Gryder, Braden Meyer, Reagan Meyer, Brody Gryder, Isabella Trine, Gage Trine and Payton Gryder and her 8 precious great-grandchildren, Isaac Trine, Henry Clemens, Theodore Clemens, Elias Trine, Sylvia Trine, Vivienne Clemens, Annabelle Clemens and Pheobe Trine; along with her sister, Patty (Gary) Horrall of Petersburg, Indiana.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of 52 years, James Michael Gryder on June 11, 2023; 5 sisters, Maxine M. Aikman, Linda Cox, Annie Asbell, Ruth Wyatt and Sandra Lovell and her two brothers, Kenneth Selby and Onal Selby. 

A Celebration of Life will be 5-8 PM, Friday, November 14, 2025, at the Lake James Lavender Company, 3515 Bayview Road, Angola, Indiana 46703.

A private graveside service will be held.

Final resting place will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Fremont, Indiana.

Memorial donations in Marilyn’s memory may be made to the Steuben County Cancer Association, PO Box 28, Angola, Indiana 46703 or to the Community Humane Shelter of Steuben County, 780 Shelter Lane, Angola, Indiana 46703.
