Marilyn Joan Smith (Shoup) Lawrence

Marilyn Joan Smith Lawrence, 86, of Angola, Indiana, passed away on Monday, April 1, 2024, at Northern Lakes Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Angola, Indiana.

Marilyn was born on October 17, 1937, in Coldwater, Michigan to Roy and Pauline (Kope) Shoup.  She graduated from Flint High School in 1956 and attended Olivet Nazarene College.

On September 5, 1958, she married Harold J. Smith.

Marilyn worked at Simley Corporation for many years and then retired from Gettig Engineering & Manufacturing Company in Angola, Indiana.

She was a member of Gateway Church, Angola, Indiana and also a member of the Cameron Hospital Auxiliary.

Surviving is her son, Richard A. (Brenda) Smith of Angola, Indiana and sister, Carolyn Jordan of Columbia City, Indiana.  Also surviving are 5 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and 1 great great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by husbands, Harold J. Smith in 1999 and Russell Lawrence in 2013 and her son, Roger A. Smith in 2021.

Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM on Monday, April 8, 2024, at the Weicht Funeral Home, Angola, Indiana with Rev. Bob Baker officiating.

Visitation will be 1-3 PM, Sunday, April 7, 2024, at the funeral home.
