Martin K. Petre

Martin K. Petre,79, of Angola, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Monday evening, July 28, 2025, at Lakeland Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, in Angola, Indiana.

He was born on March 26, 1946, in Elkhart, Indiana to Roderick M. and Thelma L. (Martin) Petre.  Martin graduated from Fremont High School in 1963.

He married the love of his life, Ruth L. Caywood, on June 4, 1967. 

Martin worked at Metal Spinners and for the Herald Republican Newspaper.

He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.  He enjoyed spending time with his family.

Martin was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Angola, Indiana and the Fremont Moose Lodge #2387 in Fremont, Indiana.

Surviving are his son, Kevin (Dawn) Petre of Angola, Indiana; his two beloved grandchildren, Dylan Petre and Ayreal (John) Lanman and his 7 beloved great-grandchildren, Ayries, Phoenix, Cami, Charley, Harlow, Ember and Kohen. Brothers Ronald Petre and Tom Green, and Sisters Phyllis, Carol, Barbara, and Brenda

He was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife of 56 years, Ruth L. Petre on June 7, 2023

A Celebration of Life will be held from 12 Noon to 3 PM on Sunday, August 31, 2025, at Fremont Moose Lodge #2387, 2051 Toledo Street, Fremont, IN  46737.
