Mary Elizabeth "Betty" (Goodale) Moody

Mary Elizabeth “Betty” Goodale Moody, 96, died Saturday, September 12, 2015 at Cameron Woods in Angola.  She has resided in Cameron Woods for four years.

She taught school for 43 years in Huntington, California and Michigan public schools.  

She was a member of the Angola Christian Church, Steuben County Retired Teachers Association, held offices for the Psi Iota Xi-Rho Chapter, Past Vice President of Delta Kappa Gamma International, Huntington Order of Eastern Star, Past National President of Sigma Eta Society Fine Arts, Zeta Tau Alpha of Fort Wayne where she received the Zeta Tau Alpha Alumnae Certificate of Merit in 1974 and Past Regent of DAR.

She graduated from Huntington College in 1941 and received her Master’s Degree from Ball State University in 1957.

Betty was born October 11, 1918 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Ford N. and Nora O. (Burt) Goodale.  She married the J. Preston Moody on October 3, 1987.

Surviving are her step-son Bruce Moody of Fremont; step-daughter Janyce (Vance) Wilson of Bryan, Ohio; step daughter-in-law Nancy Moody Cross and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Husband J. Preston Moody in May of 1997 and step-son Orville Moody.

Funeral Services will be at 11:00 AM on Thursday, September 17, 2015 at the Weicht Funeral Home, Angola with Pastor John Coney officiating and assisted by Doug Deller.

Burial will be in Circle Hill Cemetery, Angola.

Visitation will be from 4-8 PM, Wednesday, September 16, 2015 and from 10-11 AM Thursday prior to the service at the funeral home.

Memorials in Betty’s memory may be made to the Angola Christian Church, Lake James Christian Assembly or Heartland Hospice.
