Molly Lee Gaffin, 95, of Angola, Indiana, died May 31, 2025, at home with family by her side.
Molly was a lifelong resident of Angola. She was born May 28, 1930, to Ray D. and Blanche L (Baker) Hosack. Molly graduated from Angola High School in 1948, Indiana University in 1952 with a BS in Education, and later a MS from Saint Francis College.
She met John “Jack” Gaffin, a Tri-State University student, and shortly after graduating from IU, they married on June 22, 1952. They were married for 66 years. He preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were her parents, her brother and sister-in-law Mack and Marie Hosack.
Molly is survived by three daughters, Shery Copeland of Angola, Lisa (Dan) Hochstedler of Pleasant Lake and Elizebeth “Betsy” (Jeff) Serafin of Altamonte Springs, Florida; Grandsons, Jared Copeland, Alex Price, Jacob (Jenna) Hochstedler, Nicholas (Katie) Hochstedler and Joel Price and Great-Grandchildren, Gavin and Ayden Copeland, Aurora and Jack Hochstedler.
Molly loved her community. During her life, she taught for many years first at Scott Center School and then Henry Park Elementary School. She was an active member of Angola United Methodist Church, Psi Iota XI, Angola Garden Club and the Steuben County Historical Society. Molly volunteered with Meals on Wheels, Steuben County Literacy Coalition, American Red Cross (swimming lessons), taught private swim lessons in our pool, and became a water aerobics instructor.
The Memorial Service will be 11:00 AM, Monday, June 23, 2025, at Angola United Methodist Church, 220 W. Maumee Street, Angola, IN.
Visitation will be from 10-11 AM, Monday, June 23, 2025, prior to the service at the church.
