Nancy Ann Sanders, 93, of Angola, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 6, 2024, at Miller’s Merry Manor in Garrett, Indiana.
Nancy was born on August 24, 1930, in Angola, Indiana to Oscar W. and Joyce Carolyn (Arnold) Pence. She graduated from Angola High School in 1948 and attended finishing school in Chicago, Illinois.
Nancy married the love of her life, Herbert P. Sanders on January 19, 1951.
She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great great-grandmother.
Nancy was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Angola, Indiana. She was a member of Psi Iota Xi Sorority, the Angola Garden Club and the FTDL Club.
Nancy enjoyed fishing and working with her flowers, most of all she loved spending time with her family and friends.
Surviving are her son, Ronald (Karen) Sanders of Angola, Indiana and granddaughters, Melissa Hamilton, Megan (Brad) Richards and Marcie Sanders; her son Jerry (Debra) Sanders of Raleigh, North Carolina and grandson Jared (Audrey) Sanders; daughter-in-law, Loretta “Ann” Sanders and granddaughter Sarah (Dan) Richman, grandsons Jacob Sanders and Jordon (Heather Myers-Lehman) Sanders; son Douglas (Suzanne) Sanders of Angola, Indiana and grandsons Tyler (Alyssa) Sanders and Chase Sanders. Also surviving are several great-grandchildren.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents Oscar W. Pence and Joyce Carolyn Pence Brown, her loving husband of 61 years, Herbert P. Sanders on November 12, 2012, son, Gregory “Arnie” Sanders on June 24, 2008, and granddaughter, Jacqueline Leigh Sanders, daughter of Jerry and Debra Sanders.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM on Thursday, July 11, 2024, at the Weicht Funeral Home in Angola, Indiana with Rev. Daphne Derbyshire officiating.
Visitation will be from 1-2 PM on Thursday, July 2024, prior to the service at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Circle Hill Cemetery, Angola, Indiana.
Memorial donations in Nancy’s memory may be made to the Community Humane Shelter of Steuben County or to the American Heart Association.
