Norman Gajewski Obituary

Norman F. Gajewski, age 83, of Angola, IN, passed away peacefully at Parkview Medical Center in Ft. Wayne, Indiana on November 27, 2025, surrounded by loving family.

Norm was born May 1, 1942, in Toledo, Ohio, the only son of John and Mary Gajewski (Kowalec).

Pursuing a degree in Industrial Engineering, Norm earned his bachelor’s from the University of Toledo.  Prior to attending U of T, he met the love of his life and life-long partner, Anita, at accordion school; their first date was his senior prom.

Norm married Anita (Swartz) on July 20, 1963, in Toledo, Ohio and remained married for 62 years until his passing with her (as always) at his side. Together they raised five children, and at the time of his passing enjoyed eighteen grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren.

Throughout his career, Mr. Gajewski worked as a Quality Control Manager at several companies located in the Michigan, Ohio, and Northeast Indiana region.  After 47 years of working in quality management, he retired from Angola Wire in 2010 and then was able to spend more time with family and his second career in real estate.

Early on, Norm was an avid bowler and played the accordion in a Polka band.  After moving to Angola, he especially loved living on Lake James, boating, and taking his children and grandchildren waterskiing, tubing, on jet ski rides, and tobogganing at Pokagon.  Post retirement, he and Anita enjoyed both domestic and international travel, logging over 30 trips, through dozens of states, and multiple countries and continents.

The Gajewskis’ have been long time parishioners of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church since moving to Angola in 1980.  Norm was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, and the National Realtors Association.

Remaining to cherish Norm’s memory are spouse, Anita; children, Susan Ogden (David), Dale Gajewski (Sherry), Jan Miller (Brian), Alan Gajewski, and Sara Gettman; along with eighteen grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren.

Preceding Norm in death are his parents, John and Mary Gajewski.

Visitation will be held Saturday, December 6, 2025, between 9:30 am – 11 am at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, 700 W. Maumee, Angola, IN 46703.  Mass will be held immediately following at 11:00am at St. Anthony’s with Fr. Raul Marroquin as celebrant.
