Richard "Dick" Coleman Obituary

Richard L. “Dick” Coleman, 78, passed away on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at his residence near Crooked Lake, Angola, Indiana.

Richard was born on June 22, 1947, in Garrett, Indiana, to Darrell Wade and Evelyn Louise (Walter) Coleman.

He was a 1965 graduate of Angola High School.  After high school, he moved to Ohio where he eventually began a lengthy career with Ford Motor Company, Sandusky, Ohio.  There, he began working as an electrician, later becoming maintenance superintendent.  He retired in 2006, after a service of more than 30 years.

In his spare time Richard had a passion for cars, salvaging, and rebuilding them in his spare time.  Eventually he started building street rods, often times helping and working with friends on their cars.

Richard loved to hunt and fish.  In late spring and all summer, he could be found fishing the waters of Lake Erie from one of his boats.

On April 1, 2000, he married Linda (Yates) Dailey.  Together they enjoyed traveling, antiquing, car shows, and once in awhile a garage sale along the way.  In 2013, he and Linda moved from Catawba Island, Ohio, to Crooked Lake, near Angola, to the house he built.

He is survived by his wife Linda, of Angola; a daughter Marni Boyd of Downers Grove, Illinois; a son Tony (Julia) of Berlin Heights, Ohio; two stepchildren, Brad (Kristie) Dailey of Angola, and Amy (James) Stewart of Savannah, Texas.  Richard also leaves a grandson, Carter Coleman of Berlin Heights, Ohio as well as 5 step-grandchildren, Bryce, Madison, and Cooper Dailey of Angola and Gavin and Dayton Stewart of Savannah, Texas.

He is survived by 4 siblings; 2 brothers, Larry Coleman and Mark Coleman both of Angola; two sisters, Debra Herman of East Chicago, Indiana and Julie (Dave) Harpham of Pleasant Lake, Indiana.  His Mother-in-law, Phyllis Yates of Angola also survives.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
