Ross Kendall Ruckel I, 75, of Angola died Sunday, March 13, 2011, at Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home in Fort Wayne. Mr. Ruckel was vice president of Rowland Associates Inc. in Angola. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Angola and served as an usher there. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge 236, a 32nd Degree Mason of Scottish Rite Valley of Fort Wayne, a Royal Jester of Mizpah Shrine, a member of the Pokagon Shrine Club and of the Angola Moose Lodge 1568. Mr. Ruckel had been named a Kentucky Colonel and a Tennessee Squire. Ross loved his family and friends. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed gardening. He was a very generous person and was known by all his friends as ''Pa Ruckel.'' Kentucky was, and will always, be in his heart. Ross was born August 5, 1935, in Vanceburg, Ky., to Peter and Wynonna (Hatcher) Ruckel. They preceded him in death. Surviving are two sons, Jay Todd (Pamela) Ruckel of Las Vegas, Nev., and Ross Kendall Ruckel II of Angola; three daughters, Melody G. (Neil) Bailey of Chesterfield, Mo., Laura R. Ruckel of Lake Charles, La., and Kelle Rene (Jeff) Sproat of Goodyear, Ariz.; a sister, Patricia DuBose of Jasper, Texas; nine grandchildren, Heather Anne-Marie Hunt, Joshua Ross Ruckel, Ryan Todd Ruckel, Joseph Kendall Ruckel, Hayden Thomas Ruckel, Clara Ruckel, Logan Kendall Foster, Lane Jillian-Paige Foster and Peyton Jeffery Sproat; and six great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Anne Ruckel McClave; two brothers, Pete Ruckel Jr. and Bruce Ruckel; and a sister, Bernice Schumacher.
