Sonja L. (Nelson) Foster

Sonja L. Foster, 87, of Elkhart, Indiana, a devoted follower of Jesus Christ, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at Hubbard Hill Estates Assisted Living in Elkhart, Indiana. She will be remembered for her unwavering honesty, profound love for God, and heartfelt love for all people. Sonja lived for God, truly a child of His in every aspect of her life. She was a faithful prayer warrior for her cherished family, including her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many friends.

Born on April 9, 1939, in Kinderhook, Michigan, Sonja was the daughter of Harold and Lois (Freed) Nelson. She graduated from Fremont High School in 1957 and had attended Manchester College in Manchester, Indiana.

Sonja married the one God had destined for her, William Foster, on September 19, 1958. Their marriage was a testament to their shared faith and love.

As an extension of their life serving God, she and her husband served in ministry for many years in Michigan, Illinois, Ohio and Indiana founding the Country Road Lighthouse Ministries in June 2001, which became The Living Room Life Center Church in Fremont, Indiana. Sonja was a member and faithful supporter of the ministry.

Sonja is survived by her sons, William H. (Melissa) Foster of Thousand Oaks, California, and Daniel L. (Tracey) Foster of Angola, Indiana; her daughters, Hope C. (Raymond) Collins of Goshen, Indiana, Dana L. (Michael) Vetter of Fremont, Indiana, and Rebecca E. (Clarence) Walsh of Edgerton, Ohio. She also leaves behind 19 beloved grandchildren and 29 precious great-grandchildren, all of whom she prayed for faithfully. Additionally, she is survived by her sister, Conne Moeller of Guerneville, California.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of 56 years, Pastor William Foster, on January 13, 2015; and her grandson, Jamie A. Walsh.

Visitation will be held from 2-4 PM on Sunday, April 19, 2026, at the Weicht Funeral Home, Angola, Indiana.

Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon on Monday, April 20, 2026, with visitation from 11 AM-12 Noon prior to the service at the Weicht Funeral Home, 207 N. West Street, Angola, IN 46703. Rev. Daniel L. Foster will be officiating assisted by grandsons Rev. Nic Collins and Joel Foster.

Burial will immediately follow the service in Mount Zion Cemetery, Steuben County, Indiana.
