Steven Paul Anstett, known by most as “Beaver,” 69 of Pleasant Lake, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Steve was born on October 15, 1956, in Angola, Indiana, to the late Donald Lee and Dorothy Mae (Zitzman) Anstett. He graduated from Angola High School in 1976.
Steve married the love of his life, Carol M. (Beauregard) Alman on April 16, 1988.
He drove bus for the MSD of Steuben County for 39 years before retiring. He had driven numerous sports teams to their sporting events and made several victory laps around the mound.
Steve was a member of the Pleasant Lake Baptist Church, Angola Moose Lodge and former member of the Pleasant Lake Lions Club. He was a member of the Steuben Township Advisory Board and oversaw Pleasant Lake Days for many years. Steve was incredibly involved with the town of Pleasant Lake and was often called “The Mayor of Pleasant Lake.”
He was a 50-year member of the Steuben Township Fire Department where he followed in his father’s footsteps at the age of 15 as a junior firefighter. Steve opened the fire department every morning for coffee and fellowship.
He helped maintain Circle Hill Cemetery in Angola and helped with many burials throughout Steuben County.
He enjoyed going to NASCAR races and the Indy 500 with his family. Carol and Steve had season tickets for the Notre Dame girls’ basketball games for many years. Most of all he loved spending time with his family.
Surviving are his loving wife of 37 years, Carol M. Alman Anstett of Pleasant Lake, Indiana; daughters, Tammy (Brett) Noll of Angola, Indiana and Teri (David) Noss of Panama City Beach, Florida; 7 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; brothers, Butch (Carmen) Haifley of Angola, Indiana and Robert (Sandra) Anstett of Fremont, Indiana and his sister, Cindy K. Anstett of Angola, Indiana along with his niece, Heather Anstett of Pleasant Lake, Indiana and his nephew, Jeremy Anstett of Pleasant Lake, Indiana.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Services will be at 12:00 Noon, Friday, December 5, 2025, at the Pleasant Lake Community Church in Pleasant Lake, Indiana with Rev. George Foulk officiating.
Visitation will be from 10 AM-12:00 Noon on Friday, December 5, 2025, prior to the service at the church.
Private family burial will take place in Pleasant Lake Cemetery, Pleasant Lake, Indiana.
