Tamara "Tammy" Pettit Obituary

Tamara J. “Tammy” Pettit, 66, of Angola, Indiana, passed away suddenly at her home on Tuesday, March 17, 2026.

Tammy was born on September 18, 1959, in Auburn, Indiana, to Francis and Joanne (LaRowe) Dulle. She graduated from DeKalb High School in 1977 and later from International Business College in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Throughout her career, Tammy worked at Viking Business Forms and Waterfield Mortgage in Fort Wayne, as well as Mid‑City Office Systems in Auburn for many years. She later worked at Magic Coil in Butler, Indiana, before retiring.

On September 19, 2022, Tammy married the love of her life, David M. Pettit.

Tammy enjoyed traveling with Dave, caring for and loving her dogs, gardening, tending to her flowers, and soaking up the sunshine. She cherished her annual “Dulle Cookie Giving” tradition and decorating for the holidays. She loved watching basketball, especially Indiana University games, a passion she shared with her dad. They often called each other to talk play‑by‑play during the games. She also enjoyed the friendly IU vs. Purdue rivalry with Dave, often calling theirs a “house divided” with a grin and giggle.

One of Tammy’s greatest joys was being called “Aunt Tammy.” Her nieces and nephews fondly remember her brownies, deviled eggs, chicken divan, and her “famous” backrubs. She would laugh hysterically as they pulled the backs of their shirts up while walking toward her, knowing exactly what they were after. She loved introducing them to one of her favorite movies, Sister Act, and watching it with them over and over. Above all, she treasured time spent with her friends and family.

Tammy is survived by her loving husband, David M. Pettit of Angola, Indiana; his children, Christopher (Heather) Pettit of Indianapolis, Indiana, Matthew (Kelly) Pettit of Shallotte, North Carolina, Patrick (Jennifer) Bobay of Deerfield, Illinois, and Kelly Syrek of Churubusco, Indiana; and seven grandchildren.

She is also survived by her sister and best friend, Lynda (Ron) Sleeper of Auburn, Indiana; her brother‑in‑law, Jeff Evans of Auburn, Indiana; and seven beloved nieces and nephews: Justin (Amanda) Groscop of Fort Wayne, Indiana; Adam Groscop of North Manchester, Indiana; Isiah Dobson of Fishers, Indiana; Lashae (Todd) Dion of Mishawaka, Indiana; Brent (Samantha) Evans of Auburn, Indiana; Amber (Don) Hernandez of Fort Wayne, Indiana; and Jeremy Sleeper of Goshen, Indiana; along with fourteen great‑nieces and nephews.

She is also survived by her beloved fur baby, Ozee.

She was preceded in death by her parents and by her sister, Cheryl Evans.
