Walter J. Krohn, 86, of Angola, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 9,2025, at Stillwater Hospice Home in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Walter was born on November 12, 1938, in Paulding, Ohio to John Harrison and Marie Katherine (Keller) Krohn.
He married the love of his life, Nancy Lou Parr on February 27, 1965, at the Hudson United Methodist Church in Hudson, Indiana.
Walter had worked at Moore’s Business Forms in Angola, Indiana for over 30 years, Consolidated Freight for 4 ½ years and Tri-State University for four years before retiring.
Walter was proud to serve his country in the United States Army and was a member of the Indiana Guard Reserve for over 17 years obtaining the rank of Major. He was a member and past Commander from 1985-1986 of the Orland American Legion Post 423, a member of the Military Honor Guard, past 4th District Commander from 2000-2001 and past Northern Vice Commander from 2006-2007. Walter was a member of the George Anspaugh Veterans of Foreign War Post 7205, Angola, Indiana and the Voiture 483 40&8. He was instrumental in starting the Hamilton American Legion Post 467, Hamilton, Indiana.
Walter was a member for over 60 years of the I.O.O.F of Angola, Indiana and was a member of the “Over the Hill Gang”.
Walter played on the first Little League team in Steuben County that was formed in Hamilton in 1949. He played for the Indiana All Stars against the Kentucky All Stars in 1965.
He was a member of the Steuben County 4-H Club for 10 years.
Walter was a member of the Angola United Methodist Church for over 40 years.
He enjoyed feeding his birds, yard work and gardening. He also rolled lawns and tilled many gardens all over the county. He played on local Pool Leagues and enjoyed ice fishing.
Surviving is his son, Kurt D. Krohn of Angola, Indiana and grandson, Maclain Krohn of Angola, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 56 years, Nancy Lou Krohn on September 23, 2021; and his siblings, Nancy Krohn, Doyle Krohn, Marcile Van Arsdale, Ambrose Krohn, Ray Krohn, Patricia Moss, Herman Kohn and Henry Theodore Krohn.
Funeral Services will be at 12 Noon, Monday, November 17, 2025, at the Weicht Funeral Home in Angola, Indiana with Pastor Chuck Fenwick officiating.
Visitation will be at 11-12 Noon, Monday, November 17, 2025, prior to the service at the funeral home.
Burial with Military Honors by the Orland American Legion Post 423, will be at Hamilton Cemetery, Hamilton, Indiana, immediately following the service.
Memorials donations may be made to the George Anspaugh Veterans of Foreign War Post 7205, Angola, Indiana.
