Wilbur Alfred “Al” Hobson died Friday, August 26, 2022, at age 81 years and 22 days.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Margaret (Davis), his daughter Susan and her husband Tom Kus of Ft. Wayne, son Eric and his wife Susan Hobson of Fishers, Indiana, and daughter JoLynn and her husband Allen Clem of Carmel, Indiana. In addition, he had five grandchildren, Lauren Kus, Andrew Kus, Thalia Hobson, Ben Hobson, and Alex Hobson. Also surviving is a sister, Judith Maxwell, of Fremont, Ohio, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Al was the son of Wilbur A. and Irene Penick Hobson, of Pleasant Lake.
Al attended Pleasant Lake school for eleven years and graduated in 1959 from Angola High School. Being mechanically inclined, he then completed training in the General Electric Apprentice Toolmaker program in 1963. Al continued to work at G.E. until 1989 when he joined Advanced Manufacturing Technology where he was in charge of their software system until he retired in 2002.
Al resided near Spencerville for 44 years and three years ago moved to Hamilton Lake.
He enjoyed working in his workshop, fishing his stocked pond, gardening, making maple syrup, and just being outside. He took pride in being able to fix anything. But most of all, he enjoyed his family, of which he was extremely proud.
A private family memorial service has already been held.
