William "Bill" Ray Sumney

William “Bill” Ray Sumney, 93, of Angola, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 23, 2026, at Northern Lakes Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Angola, Indiana.

Bill was born on September 24, 1932, in Fort Wayne, Indiana to Weldon R. and Esther S. (Goeglein) Sumney.  He graduated from Central High School in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Bill was proud to service in the United States Army.

He had been the President and General Manager of MBC Distribution in Angola, Indiana.

Bill enjoyed woodworking and was a founding member of the N.E.I. Woodworkers Association of Angola, Indiana and a member of the Three Rivers Woodworkers Association in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

He enjoyed many vacations at Big Star Lake with his family and friends.

Surviving are his three children, Barb (Steve) Schroeder of Zionsville, Indiana, Lisa (Kevin) Stockwell of Hudson, Indiana and William “Ross” (Tami) Sumney of Angola, Indiana; three beloved grandchildren, Heidi Schroeder, Kyle (Ashley) Stockwell and Laura (Joris) VanRoessel and his 7 great-grandchildren that he adored.  Also surviving is his special friend, Alice Hughes of Angola, Indiana.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wives, Phyllis (Bremer) Sumney and Betty (Vaughn) Cope Sumney and siblings, Wanda Etler, Robert Sumney Sr. and Eugene Sumney.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Monday, March 2, 2026, at Peace Lutheran Church, 355 E. State Road 120, Fremont, IN 46737.  Rev. Jared E. Rudolph will be officiating followed by Military Honors by the United States Army Honor Guard.

Visitation will be from 10-11 AM, Monday, March 2, 2026, prior to the service at the church.

Final resting place will be in Circle Cemetery, Hudson, Indiana.
