Donald Ray Vollmer died peacefully at home on January 14, 2016, after an extended illness, surrounded by his loving wife, Jenni, and close friends.

He was born September 6, 1951 in Fort Wayne to Robert and Mary (Sprunger) Vollmer.
He married Jenni (Davis) in 1993.

He attended New Haven High School and was a talented athlete in football and track. He also enjoyed boxing.  He spent many years in the bar and restaurant business in Fort Wayne and Angola.  He moved to Angola to manage Hotshots, and was the first person to bring karaoke to the area. He was a chef and banquet coordinator at the 101, and was particularly well-known for his stuffed mushrooms and turkey, which was served on Thursday nights at the 101.

He was previously general manager of Pine Valley Country Club, Bandido's, El Azteca, E.T Murphy's and the Pink Cadillac in Fort Wayne. His last position was a delivery coordinator at Menard's in Angola until his health started to decline.  He celebrated each day to the fullest, and was a friend to all.

He is survived by his wife, Jenni, of Fremont, and brother, Dr. Robert (Rosie) Vollmer of Huntertown, and niece, Dr. Sonya (Chris) Shively, and nephews, Dr. Randy (Lissy) Vollmer, Chad Stillwell, Brian (Kris) Stillwell and Tim Murray. He was proceeded in death by his parents, Robert and Mary Vollmer, sons, Ryan and Coby Vollmer, sister, Cindy Murray, and his black labs, Spooky and Buck.

Memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on February 6, 2016, with visitation from 1-3 p.m prior to the service at Weicht Funeral Home in Angola.  No flowers please. Memorials to the family in care of Jenni Vollmer or to the Steuben County Humane Society.

We will see you the 6th and celebrate a lifelong friendship. You were his angel and took such great care of him. I love that he laughed the night before and had his wine with the woman he loved. He will watch over you until you see him again. God's blessings to you Jen
