Wilma W. Gilbert, 91, of Angola died Sunday, January 30, 2011, at The Towne House Retirement Center in Fort Wayne. Mrs. Gilbert had served as a dispatcher and deputy for the Steuben County Sheriff's Department for 10 years and as a dispatcher for the Angola Police Department for seven years, retiring in 1985. She was a member of the Pleasant View Church of Christ in Angola and a life member of the Cameron Hospital Auxiliary. Mrs. Gilbert was an avid crocheter and had crocheted baby blankets and donated them to the Cameron Hospital Auxiliary. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. She also enjoyed traveling, reading mystery novels, playing cards and playing Wii Bowling with her friends at Cameron Woods. She was born January 10, 1920, in Pleasant Lake to Albert and Charlotte (Alleshouse) Ulmer. She married Roger R. Gilbert on September 26, 1948. He died December 22, 2000. Surviving are two sons, George W and Stacy Gilbert of Angola and Paul and Sharon Gilbert of Pleasant Lake; and seven grandchildren, Katie Gilbert, Sarah Gilbert, Jared Gilbert, Amanda Gilbert, Mark Gilbert and his wife, Fallon, Stephanie Gilbert and Steven Gilbert. She was also preceded in death by five brothers, Wellington Ulmer, Kenneth Ulmer, Maynard Ulmer, Lawrence Ulmer and Wilbur Ulmer; and three sisters, Vivaleen Brooks, Velma Van Auken and Iona Shipe.
